چکیده
where v is the total exchanged volume, V is the patient's blood volume and e is the transcendental number, base of the natural logarithm. However, he later stated that his formula was not correct because it did not take into consideration the difference between the patient's haematocrit and that of the transfused blood. Moreover, according to others, even when the two haematocrits happen to be the same, the formula should be modified to account for the difference between venous haematocrit and body haematocrit. Wiener also stated that it was obvious that, for an equal exchanged volume, exchange transfusion would be more efficient, the more the neonate was anaemic. Taken together, these opinions risk misleading the reader seriously. Wiener's formula describes a continuous flow exchange. However, during exchange transfusion, neonatal blood is replaced by donor blood, withdrawing and transfusing alternatively 5-20 mL of blood. The exchange is, therefore, intermittent. It can be demonstrated (see Appendix A) that when blood is first withdrawn and then transfused, at each cycle:

Application of response surface methodology for thorium(IV) removal using Amberlite IR-120 and IRA-400: Ion exchange equilibrium and kinetics
In this work, thorium (IV) removal from aqueous solutions was investigated in batch systems of cationic and anionic resins of Amberlite IR-120 and IRA-400. In this way, the effects of pH, initial Th(IV) concentration and the amount of adsorbent were investigated. A Central Composite Design (CCD) under Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was employed to determine the optimized condition. The resu...

Cadmium is an extremely toxic metal, which even in low levels is harmful to the human body, animals and also plants. Human manufactures such as cadmium-nickel batteries and pesticides, plastic, make the earth polluted with cadmium; therefore removal of the cadmium Water is vital for human and animal. Scientists use different methods for cadmium removal including adsorption, precipitation, i...
متن کاملAdsorptive Removal of Al, Zn, Fe, Cr and Pb from Hydrogen Peroxide Solution by IR-120 Cation Exchange Resin
Adsorption of cations Al, Zn, Fe, Cr and Pb from aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide using IR-120 cation-exchange resin was studied. The removal percentage of the cations was examined by varying experimental conditions (such as pH of the hydrogen peroxide solution, temperature, contact time and dosage of adsorbent) i...
متن کاملCharacters of Kinetic and Equilibrium of Adsorption of Eu(III) by an Cation Exchange Resin
The sorption and desorption behaviors of Eu(III) from aqueous solutions with cation exchange resins containing carboxyl groups (D155 resin) were studied in terms of varied Eu(III) concentration, adsorbent dosage, pH, contact time and temperature. Batch shaking sorption experiments were carried out to evaluate the performance of D155 resin in the removal of Eu(III) from aqu...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Severity and Duration of Thrombocytopenia following Exchange Transfusion in neonatal hyperbilirubinemia
Background: Infant jaundice is one the most common causes of hospitalization in infant in the first month of birth, which is defined an abnormal increase in blood bilirubin levels. Exchange transfusion is the recommended treatment for neonatal jaundice who do not respond to phototherapy and experience dangerous complication of jaundice and signs of kernicterus. However, this treatment may lead ...
